History

About Children Ltd was set up by former NSPCC staff Kim Baker, Judy Filmore and Lesley Ritchie when, in March 2010, the NSPCC closed its therapeutic services in South Cumbria. We provided a service for children in the looked after system, including adopted children and those living in residential care.

As a result of the NSPCC closure and its decision to concentrate on major urban centres, we decided to set up an independent company in April 2010. We felt it was important to try and ensure that children with difficult life experiences should continue to receive appropriate therapy/help. In addition it gave us the opportunity to widen the scope of our activities by offering a service to children and their families in the community.

In October 2017 About Children Limited relocated from the Lake District Business Park to our current address offering three creative therapy rooms, two meeting rooms and offices with increased disabled access.
